November 2018

I’m honored, and humbled, that my book Silent Moments will be presented at Paris Photo in the historic Grand Palais, November 2018. I will be at Kehrer Verlag’s booth SE6 and signing my book Saturday, November 10th, 2pm.

The book was also presented at Frankfurt Book Fair, October 2018, and at the Kitab Photo Book Festival in India, September 2018.

I’m also thrilled to announce that my first solo exhibition in Russia will open November 25th, 2018, at Space Place Art Gallery. The gallery is located in the city of Nizhny Tagil, at the virtual border between Europe and Asia in central Russia.

My brand new website is now up and running. Special thanks to Anders Schmidt, Creative Director at Uniform Branding & Design in Stockholm and London.

I am very pleased to announce that I am now represented by the Aftergrey Gallery here in Stockholm, Sweden. The gallery is located at Hornsgatan 29 in the heart of Stockholm.

It’s truly a great honor to have my work included in SHOTS BOOK VOL 1 – Series of Dreams. The editor Russel Joslin, from SHOTS magazine in Saint Paul, Minnesota, produced a beautiful hardcover book with selected photographs that has been published in his fabulous magazine.

Denmarks Museum of Photography is displaying a new group exhibition from the museum’s art collection, including my work, as well as the work of Kirsten Klein, Susan de Witt, Viggo Rivad, Heinrich Heidersberger, Albert Steiner, Harry Opstrup and Emil Schildt. The exhibition runs from January 21st to March 12th, 2017.

November 2016

I’m happy to share my thoughts regarding black and white photography together with top photographers around the world in Andrew Gibson’s latest ebook The Black and White Companion. October 2016

I have been quite busy during the first half of 2016. I did some extensive travelling to Japan, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Iceland, and Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota and Oregon in the US. New images will soon be available on my website.

I had a solo exhibition in May at Epicenter: Stockholm House of Innovation, which contains some of Stockholm’s most modern showrooms. Epicenter is part of the concept called Urban Escape Stockholm. Many thanks to Anders Schmidt at Gallery Xpose who arranged this exhibition.

A small selection from a new ongoing project is published on LensCulture’s website. This project, UNSPOKEN STORIES – Dreams, Memories & Other Tales, is quite different from what I usually do. I am very proud to announce that my image The Crossroad won Third Place in the prestigious International Kontinent Photography Awards 2013, in the category Editorial/Documentary – Single Image.

I participated in a group exhibition at Gallery Form & Färgverkstaden in Eskilstuna, Sweden, May 2013. This was my first exhibition in my old hometown. I will also participate in a group exhibition at Oxford Castle Gallery in Oxford, England, August 2013.

I will have a solo exhibition at Kontra:Stockholm here in Stockholm, Sweden, September 2nd to 28th, 2013. Kontra:Stockholm is a spa & beauty salon located at Briger Jarlsgatan 46, a prime location in a fashionable neighborhood in Stockholm. This exhibition is arranged in collaboration with an old friend, Marie Hallbert Fahlberg. She is the founder of FOP Sweden. FOP stands for Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva which is one of the rarest, most disabling genetic conditions known to medicine. It causes bone to form in muscles, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues. Bridges of extra bone develop across joints, progressively restricting movement and forming a second skeleton that imprisons the body in bone. Marie Hallbert Fahlberg has done invaluable work for FOP Sweden. I will donate 20% of all sales during this exhibition to the FOP research foundation.

January 2013

I am proud to announce that my image Snow Covered Pier, 32×32 inch, edition 1/6, is now included in the exclusive art collection at the Swedish embassy in New Delhi, India. I am also honored to be a finalist in Photolucida’s Critical Mass 2012, Portland, Oregon, USA.

There is a new portfolio published on my website with 22 new photographs from a road trip on the famous Route 66 in the states of Oklahoma and Texas.

November 2012

My solo exhibition Focus on Light in Oklahoma City was a big success. Glenn Fillmore, Director of Visions in The Paseo Art Gallery, presented my exhibition live on Oklavision TV and on KSBI TELEVISION – OKLAHOMA LIVE. John Branderburg wrote a review in The Oklahoman Newspaper, and Brandy McDonnell did an interview, also for The Oklahoman Newspaper.

Many thanks to Glenn Fillmore, Cindy Viol and Tessa Riff Randal at Visions in The Paseo Art Gallery for excellent work in making this exhibition such a great event, to Brandy McDonnell and John Brandenburg for the well written interview and review in The Oklahoman Newspaper, to my son Paul who made a short film about the exhibition and the road trip we did on Route 66 in Oklahoma and Texas. I am very pleased to announce that my solo exhibition Focus on Light will be exhibited at Visions in The Paseo Art Gallery in Oklahoma City, USA. I will be attending both the Opening Reception on Friday October 5th, 6pm to 10pm, and Meet The Artist on Saturday October 6th, 12pm to 5pm. The exhibition will be running from October 6th to October 31st. The gallery is located in the beautiful and historic Paseo Art District, at 2924 Paeso. I am pleased to announce that I am now represented by Visions Art Gallery in Oklahoma City, USA. The gallery is located in the historic Paseo Art District, at 2924 Paseo, Oklahoma City. If you visit the Visions Art Gallery’s website you can read about my upcoming solo exhibition in October, 2012.

I’m proud to announce that I will participate with 20 prints in the exhibition MERIDIANI E PARALLELI in the city of Padova, Italy. The opening of the exhibition will take place April 11, 6pm, in the magnificent exhibit hall Centro Culturale Altinate – San Gaetano. The exhibition will run from April 12 to May 13. October 2011

My solo exhibition, City – Nature, at Gallery London in Uppsala, Sweden, ran from September 23rd to October 2nd, extended by request to October 9th. This exhibition contained 44 framed prints, my biggiest exhibition so far.

Gallery ARTITLED! Contemporary Art showed some of my works from the New York City Collection at the art fair ARTI11 in The Hauge, The Netherlands, October 5th to October 9th.

It’s truly a great honor that my image, Stepping Stones, decorates the cover of internationally acclaimed pianist Frédéric D’Oria-Nicolas latest CD; ODYSSEY, Beethoven – Liszt – Wagner. In addition, my image, By The Lake, decorates the cover of internationally acclaimed pianist Jean Muller’s latest CD; Chopin Recital. These two CDs are produced by Fondamenta, an exclusive label company for classical music of the highest quality, located in Paris, France. I will be participating in two group exhibitions this summer. The first exhibition, THE CITY, will be held at gallery ARTITLED! Contemporary Art in The Netherlands. The exhibition will be running from May 29th to July 10th, 2011. I will also be participating in BLUR PHOTO 011in Croatia. This exhibition will take place at Hrvatska Posta, Croatian National Post Office, located in the heart of Zagreb city center. The exhibition will be running from June 9th to July 3rd, 2011. BLUR PHOTO 011 is an annual exhibition of international creative photography to celebrate the diversity and beauty of photography. Each BLUR PHOTOexhibition presents a selection of the best photography artwork published in BLUR Magazineduring the previous year, as voted on by a jury of photography experts

I will be quite busy this spring, participating in several art fairs in Europe and USA. ARTITLED! Contemporary Art will be showing a collection from my New York City series at Artantique in Utrecht, The Netherlands, April 16th to 25th, and at The Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam, The Netherlands, May 12th to 15th. The sizes of these prints are 81x81cm. My panorama images from this serie are also included, with print sizes up to 120x50cm, in a limited edition of 6.

Susan Spiritus Gallery will be exhibiting some of my work at San Fransisco Fine Art Fair, May 20th to 22nd, 2011. The art fair will be held at Festival Pavilion, Fort Manson Center, San Fransisco, California, USA.

AD-Galerie will be exhibiting a selection of my work at artbygenève, April 29th to May 3rd, 2011. The art fair will be held in Geneva Palexpo, Switzerland.

My solo-exhibition, Focus on Light, will be opening on January 14th, 2011 at AD-Galerie in Geneva, Switzerland. I will be attending the opening reception from 5 pm to 8 pm. I am very pleased to announce that I am now represented by the gallery Swedish Photography in Berlin, Germany. The gallery is located at Oranienburger Strasse 27, a prime location on one of Berlin’s most famous streets, in the heart of the city center. The gallery Swedish Photography is owned by curator Nina Grundemark.

I am also pleased to announce that one of my images won 1st place in the category Nature for professional photographers, in the International Photography Awards 2010. I also received 8 Honorable Mentions in several other categories.

My solo-show, Focus on Light, will be opening on October 1st at ArtPhotoCollection gallery in Gothenburg, Sweden. The exhibition is part of the annual cultural event called Culture Night. The ArtPhotoCollection gallery is situated in the center of Gothenburg, just a few minutes walk from the famous Hasselblad Center. The owners of the ArtPhotoCollection gallery, Lars Bengtsson and Kerstin Fiedler, have an extensive background with the Hasselblad camera company. They are also the founders of Hasselblad Masters, the most prestigious awards in the photography industry. I will be attending the opening reception from 6 pm – midnight. The exhibition will be running from October 1st to October 27th, 2010.

I am very pleased to announce that I am now represented by Susan Spiritus Gallery in Newport Beach, California, USA. For the past 30 years Susan Spiritus has been a leader in the field of fine art photography, representing some of the most well known and highly respected photographers.

A new portfolio from New York City is now published on the website. A huge snowstorm covered Manhattan with several inches of snow the day after I arrived. I was lucky to get some nice photos from a beautiful snow-covered Central Park.

I’m very honored to announce that I had seven nominations in the 5th annual Black & White Spider Awards. I was awarded an Honor of Distinction in the category Silhouette, and an Honorable Mention in the category Nature.

October 2009

I’m pleased to announce that my Turning Torso Collection was awarded 2nd place in the category Advertising Architecture, and 3rd place in the category Fine Art Architecture for professional photographers in PX3 – Prix De La Photographie Paris, France 2009.

April 2009

I’m happy to announce that I won 1:st price in the National Geographic International Photography Contest. The winning image, called Amish Women, was taken on a ferry boat between Cape May, New Jersey and Lewes, Delaware last summer.

October 2008

I’m very happy and honored to announce that I was awarded two Black & White Spider Awards – Merit of Excellence – in the categories Fine Art and Nature. The winning images will be published in the World’s Greatest Black & White Photography, Vol 2, and included in the Masters of Photography International Exhibition.

I’m also very proud to announce that I’m a Merit Award Winner in the Black & White Magazine Single Image Contest 2009. The awarded photograph will be published in the Special Issue of Black & White Magazine scheduled to arrive on newsstands worldwide the first week of December, 2008.

My solo exhibition, Water Works, is opening tonight, October 30, at galleri ikon here in Stockholm, Sweden. I will attend the opening reception from 5-9pm. The exhibition is running from Oct 30th to Nov 23rd, 2008.

July 2008

I’m very pleased to have my work included in the anniversary issue of SHOTS, no: 100, summer 2008. This well-reputed magazine is an independent journal for fine art photography, based in Minneapolis, USA.

My image Rock Group was selected as the First Prize in Pilsner Urquell’s promotion for photography in conjuction with the fine wine retailer Oddbins in the UK. The image was taken on a blustery day in January 2007, just a stone throw from the swedish director Ingmar Bergman’s house at Hammars in Fårö, Sweden. The image was selected among 300 winners of International Photography Awards 2007.

May 2008

Prix De La Photographie Paris (PX3) announces winners of the 2008 Competition:

Håkan Strand of Sweden was Awarded: First Prize in category Nature for the entry titled, Little Lighthouse, and Second Prize in category Fine Art for the entry titled, Water Works. In addition to these two Awards, Håkan Strand also received 6 Honorable Mentions. The jury selected 2008’s winner from thousands of photography entries from over 85 countries.

I’m also pleased to announce that I am a Merit Award Winner in Black and White Magazine Portfolio Contest 2008. The awarded images will be published as a 2-pages feature in a special issue of Black and White Magazine, USA, scheduled to arrive on newsstands worldwide the first week of June 2008.

International Photography Awards (IPA) announces winners of the 2007 Competition:

Håkan Strand of Sweden was Awarded: 1st and 2nd place in Fine Art Category, Landscape, for his Waterfront Studies. One of his award winning photographs was also selected for the Best Of Show. The 2007 Best of Show exhibition debuts at the Splashlight Studio Party on October 13th, in New York City before traveling to 8 cities internationally. The Best of Show was curated by Anthony Bannon, Director of George Eastman House in Rochester, NY, USA. Håkan Strand also received three Honorable Mentions in the category Nature.

I had a collection of black and white dark room prints and a short narrative published in the May issue, 2007, of the brittish magazine, Black & White Photography.
